Dark Mofo 2016

The line up for this year’s Dark Mofo festival in Hobart has now been announced and once again it looks set to provoke and impress. Dark Mofo is the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona)'s winter soltice festival, celebrating the dark through large-scale public art, food, film, music, light and sound. Dark Mofo runs from 10th to 21st June across Hobart, with major exhibitions at Mona and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, a new exhibition at the historic mental asylum Willow Court, a public art playground at Dark Park, international music shows at Mona, The Odeon Theatre, MAC2 and Federation Concert Hall.

The festival will also coincide with Mona's major winter exhibition: Field Lines by Cameron Robbins.

The ever popular Dark Mofo Winter Feast will return this year from 15th to 19th June, a nightly food spectacular filled with Tasmanian producers showcasing the best local food and wine. The Winter Feast is open on the Hobart waterfront every night between 4pm and 10pm and a season pass will grant entry to each night of the feast. Alternatively single night tickets will be sold on the day from 4pm at the box office.  For the Winter Feast lowdown, click here.

Moorilla Estate will host a bar in the Outdoor Street food strip of Winter feast where they be presenting three experimental wines: a Carbonic Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc Sturm and a Pinot Nouveau. Inside, Moorilla will offer relief from the crowds with a private space of warm lighting, plush rugs and decadent furniture to match the Cloth Label Series wines that will be offered by the bottle or in some very special glassware.

For the brave souls among you, the grand finale of Dark Mofo, the Nude Solstice Swim, will take place at daybreak on 21st June at Long Beach Reserve.
