“Sightless Selfie” with Vipoo Srivilasa
Montalto 10th November 2019
This project uses the selfie as a starting point to create a self-portrait in clay. This workshop begins by asking participants to take a selfie, using their mobile devices to capture both their attitude and personality in one frame. Under the artist Vipoo Srivilasa’s guidance, the participants will be asked to remember their selfie and then re-create it in clay.
To maximise the sense of touch, the feel of clay texture and an extra challenge, a sleeping mask is offered to participants who wish to create their clay selfie by touch, rather than sight. The finish bas-relief clay ‘selfies’ will form an installation in the workshop space before the creator takes them home. The installation offers a chance to view unique pieces created by the audience.
