Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia

A Winter Weekend in Orange

Indulge in a cosy weekend in Orange this winter with two of our Ultimate Wineries.

Orange is steeped in heritage and boasts myriad award-winning restaurants, charming boutique shops, exquisite gardens, and lively markets. Renowned for its delightful cool-climate wines, breathtaking scenery, and the slight chance of snow, Orange makes a delightful weekend escape*.

Day 1

Start your weekend with a visit to Swinging Bridge, where the vineyard and cellar door offer a commanding view of Mount Canobolas (Ghannabulla).

Take part in the winery’s most immersive experience, Indulge with Swinging Bridge, for food degustation and wine pairing at its finest.  The experience includes a guided walking tour of the stunning Hill Park Vineyard, followed by an in-depth tasting of all wines, including the single vineyard sites. This tasting is complemented by a 4-course degustation lunch, carefully curated by the in-house chef and sommeliers, who will guide you through the wines, including back vintages not otherwise available for purchase.

For dinner, head to Charred Kitchen & Bar for fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere with a seasonal tasting menu paired with local wines.

Bed down for the night at Basalt, the latest luxurious accommodation in the region, perched 1100 metres above sea level and complete with its own 75-acre cherry orchard and breathtaking vistas of Orange, just a 10 minute drive away.

Day 2

This morning, venture to Printhie Wines, nestled among picturesque rolling hills, and embraced by the majestic Mt Canobolas. If you visit during winter, you might even catch a glimpse of snow, as the cellar door sits at an elevation of 1000 metres above sea level, right on 'the snowline.'

For a unique experience (and fantastic Father's Day idea), book a Private Fly-Fishing experience. Enjoy the morning sun and the peaceful sounds of Printhie's lake as you learn the art of fly fishing. Your private instructor will show you how to rig the rod, cast, and reel in your catch, then you’ll have time for self-guided fly fishing. Afterwards, indulge in a mouth-watering five-course degustation lunch with flagship matching wines at Printhie Dining. Head chef, Jack Brown, creates menus that highlight premium local produce and unique Australian native flavours.

In the mid-afternoon, head back into town where an increasing number of chic boutique fashion and homeware stores now grace Orange’s stylish streets. If shopping’s not your thing, why not explore one of the trails in Gaanha-bula (Mt Canobolas) for breathtaking vistas.

*If you are heading to Orange 4th to 13th August, don’t miss the sizzling Orange Winter Fire Festival, igniting the region with a series of events revolving around bonfires set up at wineries and orchards.
