From the 21st to 23rd of November 2014 the Margaret River will be hosting the annual Margaret River Gourmet Escape, one of Australia’s largest food and wine festivals. The Margaret River Gourmet Escape is a celebration of some of Australia’s finest food, wine and music. International and local culinary stars will be descending onto the Margaret River including the likes of Heston Blumenthal, George Calombaris, Matt Preston, James Halliday and Jonny Lake. Along with the main events of the festival there will also be a number of ‘fringe events’ and ‘satellite events’ at local venues to celebrate the Gourmet Escape weekend.
At the heart of the weekend is the Gourmet Village, which this year is being hosted by Leeuwin Estate. The Gourmet Village is a buzzing world of culinary excitement and the perfect opportunity to experience the delectable delights the region has to offer. Key attractions at the village include; the Siemens Chef’s Theatre, Chef’s Table, Wine Theatre, Farm to Fork and Kids Cooking classes. There will also be a number of book signings with some of the festival’s headline chefs including Massimo Bottura and Heston Blumenthal. Along with great culinary experiences, Leeuwin Estate is also offering visitors the opportunity of premium wine tasting in the exclusive Leeuwin Estate Art Gallery, with a special guest appearance from James Halliday.
Next door, at Voyager Estate, there is a further range of experiences that are being offered as part of the festival. On Friday the 21st of November Voyager will be hosting the East Meets West dinner, proudly presented by Singapore Airlines. This will see the coming together of innovative Chinese chef Sam Leong and local Western Australian chef Nigel Harvey. The following night Voyager Estate will be hosting the Michelin Greats at Voyager Estate dinner, that will see the likes of Heston Blumenthal, Jonny Lake, Clare Smyth, Sat Bains and Nigel Harvey.
