Day 1: Josef Chromy

Josef Chromy will be our host, combining 'session one' of our UWEA Member's Meeting, with an opportunity to experience their winery, followed by a dinner in their restaurant.

Meeting place: 

Josef Chromy Wines, 370 Relbia Rd, Relbia.

Please ensure that you have arrived into Launceston ready for the first session of our UWEA Member Meeting and make your own way to Josef Chromy

Located just 11 minute drive from the Launceston Airport or 15 minutes from the centre of town, we recommend catching a taxi or Uber so you can take advantage of the coach transport at the conclusion of the day.

  • Arrive by 12.00pm
  • Working lunch available from 12.00pm
  • Meeting commences at 12.30pm
  • Meeting concludes at 4.30pm
  • Grounds tour from 4.45pm
  • UWEA Member Dinner from 6pm

Meeting session one agenda includes:

  • Sarah Myers, UWEA Executive Officer, including a wrap-up of FY25, an overview of FY26 and details of the new UWEA board structure.
  • Karen Fitzgerald, Tourism Australia (Signature Experiences of Australia)
  • Kirsten Galliott, Head of Content, Travel & Business at Medium Rare Content Agency (including publisher of Qantas Magazine and Travel Insider)  

Additional info:  

  • Dress: Business casual. Flat shoes and a warm jacket recommended for winery walk. 
  • Transport: We recommend arriving to Josef Chromy in a taxi or Uber. UWEA we will provide a return coach back into the Launceston CBD at the conclusion of the evening (approx. 9.30pm).

Thursday 21st August 2025

Day 2: Devil's Corner

Our tour of Tasmania departs Launceston for the rugged East Coast, where Devil's Corner will host us for the day.

We are providing a coach to transport all attendees and luggage. It's a 142km drive to Devil's Corner, which should take around two hours. We will stop for a toilet and refreshment break at Campbell Town, approximately halfway there. 

8:30am: Coach departs Launceston (with staggered Hotel pick-ups from 8.15am). 

9:30am: Campbell Town refreshment stop.

11.00am: Arrive at Devil's Corner Cellar Door. Our day will consist of session two of our Member's Meeting and a casual lunch, followed by an Ultimate Winery Experience by the picturesque Moulting Lagoon. 

5.00pm: Coach departs for Swansea - a 25km drive away - where we will be staying overnight. This East Coast hamlet will be the location for a relaxed evening of humble accommodation and dining! 

5.30-7.00pm: Check into accommodation and refresh for dinner.

7.00pm: Dinner at Alimento, where we will enjoy canapes and a carvery dinner, accompanied by member wines.

 

Meeting session two agenda includes:

  • Janine Carter, Head of Tourism & Business Development at Landsmith Collection (Voyager Estate, Bullo River) on achieving Eco Tourism Certification.
  • Collaborative working sessions.
  • Full meeting agenda for sessions one and two to be provided closer to the date.

 

Accommodation:

  • Please arrange your own accommodation. We suggest the following properties:
    • The Waterloo Hotel. A 3-star hotel, with clean, updated rooms, and a magnificent view! Please note that there is no elevator, so request a ground floor unit if you don't want to use the stairs. To receive a 20% discount off your room rate, email your booking to info@thewaterloo.au and tell them you're with Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia. There are no breakfast facilities here, however, Alimento opens from 7am across the road, and the IGA opens at 7.30am and it is a 6 min walk.
    • Swansea Motor Inn. A basic country motel, with renovated 'premium rooms' available. There are no breakfast facilities here, however, Alimento opens from 7am across the road, and the IGA opens at 7.30am and it is a 4 min walk.
    • Swansea Beach Chalets. Modern, premium 1 + 2 bedroom chalets. Please note that the above two properties are within steps of Alimento (the dinner venue). This accommodation is a 1.4km walk away. Breakfast is not offered here, but the chalets are self-contained. The IGA is a 13 minute walk away.

 

Additional information: 

  • Dress for Devil's Corner: Business casual. Please ensure you bring warm jackets, beanies and comfortable shoes for the winery experience.
  • Dress for dinner: Business casual. 
  • Wine: Alimento has kindly agreed to BYO wine and no corkage fee! We would love it if you could please bring along a bottle to share with the group.

Friday 22nd August 2025

Day 3: Moorilla at Mona

Our tour of Tasmania departs Swansea for Hobart, where Moorilla at Mona will host us for the day.

For the early risers, coffee / food is available from Alimento from 7am.

Our coach will again provide transport for all attendees and luggage. It's a 140km drive to Moorilla, which again should take around two hours. We will stop for a toilet and refreshment break at Orford, approximately halfway there. 

8:30am: Coach departs from Alimento. Please arrive at 8.15am to allow time to load luggage and board. 

9:30am: 20-min refreshment stop at Orford.

11.00am: Arrive at Moorilla. Over the next few hours, the team will provide an immersive experience, including a tour, tasting, and lunch, all delivered in true Mona style! 

1.30pm: UWEA 2025 Member's Meeting concludes. You can access subsidised Museum access to free-range through the galleries and exhibits at your leisure.

 

Additional information: 

  • Dress: Business casual. Please ensure you bring warm jackets, beanies and comfortable shoes for the winery experience.
  • Departures: the coach will remain at Moorilla during our famil and store your luggage. The coach will transport guests from Moorilla to the Hobart CBD, and depart at 3pm. For those going directly to the airport, taxis are available from Moorilla.

We’re pleased to share that House of Arras is eager to host you. Will Doggett has kindly arranged for Ed Carr to welcome the group, and there’s a chance their special 30th release wine—due for release in September—will be available for tasting.

House of Arras is located about 45 km northeast of Launceston, approximately a 45-minute to 1-hour drive.

To help us plan accordingly, we’d appreciate your feedback on the following options in the RSVP form.

1. Tuesday Afternoon Visit - August 21:  Depart Launceston around midday, spend 2-3 hours at House of Arras, and return to Launceston by early evening.

2. Wednesday Morning Visit - August 22:  Depart Launceston hotel at 8:00 AM, spend 2 hours at House of Arras, then head directly to Josef Chromy for lunch, the meeting, and dinner.

3. Unable to Attend:  You’ll be arriving in Launceston on Wednesday morning in time for the official start of the meeting at Josef Chromy, and cannot attend either visit option.

Please let us know your preference so we can coordinate logistics and determine whether transportation needs to be arranged.

  • All our members have been generous in providing subsidised pricing for hosting the UWEA group. 
  • We have also secured some event funding from Business Events Tasmania and Tourism Australia. 
  • Price per attendee is $225, and includes costs for:

    • Alimento 
    • Moorilla 
    • Coach transfers
  • Price for House of Arras pre-famil is to be determined, depending on level of interest.
