Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia

Gourmet Traveller 2019 Australian Restaurant Guide

This week saw the highly anticipated Gourmet Traveller Awards 2019 and the release of the 2019 Australian Restaurant Guide.  We are delighted to see Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia members appearing in the Top 100 across the country and also within the Top 10s by region.

The guide is compiled using Gourmet Traveller's star ratings, moderated by state and national editors.  Every restaurant listed in the guide should offer a winning dining experience; any that achieve a placement in the Top 100, represented a higher order of excellence.

Earning a place at number 9 on the Top 100, is Penfolds Magill Estate.  According to the guide:

"Once a model of measured discretion, Magill Estate now revels in the thrill of change.  The room remains a picture of modern elegance - low-slung leather wingback chairs at blackwood tables, a glass wall providing elevated views over vineyards to the city - but in the kitchen, Scott Huggins toys with bold ideas"

At number 51 on the list, we are thrilled to see the d'Arenberg Cube making its first appearance.  Having been open less than a year, this is a remarkable achievement by the team both within the restaurant and those who manage the Cube wrapped around it.

"This is d'Arenberg in wonderland, a cube-shaped glass-and-steel tower within a vineyard, conjuring equal parts madness and magic in long dégustation lunches..."

Within the top 10s by region, congratulations to Magill Estate (Adelaide), d'Arenberg Cube, St Hugo and The Lane Vineyard (Regional SA), The Source at MONA (Tasmania), Rare Hare at Jackalope (Regional Victoria) and Vasse Felix (Regional WA).

As always we are proud to be associated with restaurants and wineries offering some of Australia's best and most exciting dining experiences.
