Critic / author of the annual Western Australian Guide, Rob Broadfield said of Aaron,
"For the first time WA's top chef does not hail from a city restaurant. Aaron Carr has always attracted the attention of the Australian media for his unique cookery at Vasse Felix. He is one of our favourites. But this year he has lifted to another level.
His food has always been excellent but it seems it has become a little less try-hard, more confident, simpler and more about produce and beauty.
Nothing wrong with a gel or soil, but in keeping with the trend away from such affectations, Carr's food has evolved into something more assertive, plain-speaking and devoid of unnecessary adornment. It is however, pretty food; food plated with a strong artistic eye and a sense of painterly composition. But as ever, it boils down to taste and in that regard, Carr's food excels."
Rob also awarded Vasse Felix restaurant 18 out of 20 - his highest ever score.
