3 one-of-a-kind winery experiences in South Australia
South Australia’s premium wineries in the Ultimate Winery …
Montalto, together with the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, has launched a series of lunchtime events called ‘Contemplating Art’, taking guests on a journey with artists and their works, in a relaxed environment overlooking the Montalto Sculpture Trail.
Each event will showcase a renowned artist in conversation, exploring the artist’s background, inspiration, techniques and work over a long lunch in The Restaurant at Montalto.
Montalto, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, looks to share a moment out of the ordinary, nourishing the mind and body of all visitors to the estate. Partnering with the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery for ‘Contemplating Art’ further enhances this experience by helping to make art more accessible to the broader community.
On Thursday 24th March, Montalto welcomes Patricia Piccinini in conversation with Danny Lacy (Gallery Director from MPRG) for the inaugural ‘Contemplating Art’ event. Patricia Piccinini is a Melbourne based artist who explores the frontiers of science and technology through her sculptures, photographs, video and installation. Since the early 1990s, she has pursued an interest in the human form and its potential for manipulation and enhancement through bio-technological intervention. She is a crusader, getting joy from those things we know to be imperfect, for the values of compromise and community.
For the second event in the series, Hiromi Tango is joined by Emma Burrows on Thursday 12th May. Hiromi Tango is an established interdisciplinary artist, based in northern New South Wales. Emma Burrows is a neuroscientist and change agent for equity in STEM. Together, they have recently launched an exhibit, Wheel at Science Gallery Melbourne. Part installation, part living lab, this human-sized rainbow hamster wheel explores how physical exercise can benefit our brain and protect us against mental health conditions.
