Celebrating NAIDOC week

From 7-14 July 2024, Australia will come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week. This significant event recognises the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme, "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud," honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture. Fire, a powerful symbol, represents connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia highlights the Bush Tucker Talk & Tasting at Mandoon Estate as a unique way to connect with Indigenous culture. Located on Noongar land in the Swan Valley, this enriching experience is led by Noongar Elder Dale Tilbrook. Begin with a glass of sparkling wine in the Cellar Door while learning about the fascinating history of Mandoon Estate. Participants will taste traditional bush food and hear stories about Indigenous farming methods and the history of the Noongar peoples. Dale Tilbrook shares insights into the ancient land and its significance, offering a profound connection to the area's cultural heritage. This experience beautifully aligns with the NAIDOC Week theme, celebrating the resilience and vibrant culture of First Nations communities.

Also onsite at Mandoon Estate is Maalinup Gallery. Drop in to browse Australian native herbs and spices, hand-painted giftware, and authentic Aboriginal art. Taste delicious jams, chutneys, olive oils, and dukkah.

Join in the celebrations across the country and embrace the vibrant heritage and contributions of First Nations communities.
