Our Ultimate Wineries are leading the way in the estate-to-plate movement, with many wineries adopting sustainable practices by cultivating their own gardens and greenhouses. These on-site sources of fresh ingredients are seamlessly integrated into the culinary creations served at their winery restaurants. This commitment to homegrown ingredients not only enhances the dining experience but also underscores the wineries’ dedication to environmental stewardship and local agriculture.
Guests can get involved and see this estate-to-plate philosophy first-hand (and even forage their own produce) with a number of standout Ultimate Winery Experiences.
Here are three standout experiences:
The Brown Brothers Wine and Food Adventure is a unique experience that immerses guests in the winery's history and culinary practices. The journey begins in the Kitchen Garden, where guests learn about and forage for produce. This is followed by a winery tour and wine tasting at the Cellar Door.
The experience culminates in a specially designed lunch at the restaurant, featuring the morning's harvest paired perfectly with a selection of Brown Brothers wines. This hands-on adventure highlights the close relationship between fresh produce and fine wine.
At St Hugo, the connection between wine and food is paramount, and the Garden to Table experience allows guests to immerse themselves in this philosophy. Starting with a glass of Champagne, visitors are guided through the vineyards to the onsite Kitchen Garden. Here, the St Hugo Chef offers an informative tour, explaining the garden's role in the seasonal menus. Guests can forage, taste, and smell the fresh produce and herbs used in their dishes.
The experience continues with a culinary journey in the open kitchen, where chefs showcase seasonal menus paired with St Hugo wines. This intimate food and wine experience provides unparalleled access to the expertise of St Hugo Chefs and Wine Hosts.
Montalto's Estate to Plate experience begins with a tour of their kitchen gardens, among the oldest and largest in Victoria. This is followed by a bespoke wine tasting at their award-winning Cellar Door, exploring Single Vineyard and Montalto wines. Lunch in The Restaurant features a set menu celebrating estate-grown heirloom produce and locally sourced ingredients from the Mornington Peninsula.
After lunch, guests can explore the Montalto Sculpture Trail, a 1km path winding through vines, boardwalks, and wetlands.
By highlighting fresh, locally sourced ingredients and sustainable practices, these wineries offer visitors unforgettable experiences that are both environmentally friendly and delicious.
