We're thrilled to welcome one of South Australia’s oldest wineries and an iconic global entity, Hardys Tintara, as the newest member of Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia.
“We’re delighted to expand our winery offering, with Hardys Tintara joining Gemtree Wines and d’Arenberg as part of the UWEA collective here in McLaren Vale,” says Kate Shilling, Executive Officer, Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia.
“Hardys brings new and exciting experiences as well as impeccable winemaking craftmanship, honed and perfected for more than a century.”
Hardys’ rich history in McLaren Vale began in 1878 when Thomas Hardy transformed an old flour mill on the main street into what would become South Australia’s largest wine enterprise. Hardys’ pioneering accomplishments swiftly became a catalyst for the evolution and prosperity of the entire McLaren Vale region.
Today, a visit to this acclaimed winery is about so much more than simply tasting wine, with guests invited to journey beyond the cellar door for remarkable experiences unique to the estate:
The Tasting in the Dark: A Sensory Experience provides guests with the opportunity to engage the senses in Hardys’ private cellars. With the lights off and blindfolds on, guests are guided through the wine tasting process to discover how removing the sense of sight influences the experience and enhances the palate.
During the Hardys’ Hidden Secrets tour, guests can explore the rich tapestry of the Hardy family tree with a guided tour through the property, featuring stunning heritage buildings, unique memorabilia and sprawling gardens. This intimate journey includes a tasting of five Hardys Tintara matched with a regional tasting plate.
“We are excited to be part of the esteemed Ultimate Winery Experiences collective and look forward to working closely with d’Arenberg and Gemtree Wines to promote and enhance wine tourism here in McLaren Vale,” says Andrew McDowell, National Cellar Door Manager, Hardys Tintara.
The McLaren Vale trio of Hardys Tintara, d’Arenberg and Gemtree Wines form an exciting wine trail, with each one offering diverse experiences that showcase true innovation in wine tourism.
“The captivating heritage of Hardys Tintara is the perfect introduction to the region, complemented by the intriguing contemporary art showcased at d’Arenberg, including a permanent Salvadore Dali exhibition and the Alternate Realities Museum,” says Kate.
“Visitors can then move on Gemtree Wines to discover the secrets of biodynamic vineyards and take a stroll on the beautiful eco-trail.”
Hardys Tintara is located at 202 Main Road, McLaren Vale, South Australia.
