Pt. Leo Estate Celebrates Food, Wine & Hospitality
From coveted chef hats to award-winning wine lists …
The book honours the iconic Barossa winery’s heritage, people and enduring contribution to Australian wine.
Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia member Seppeltsfield, located in South Australia's Barossa Valley, is celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2026, marking an extraordinary milestone in Australian winemaking history.
Established in 1851, Seppeltsfield has evolved from a pioneering family winery into one of Australia's most celebrated wine tourism destinations, renowned for its historic cellars, exceptional wines and immersive visitor experiences.
To commemorate this significant anniversary, Seppeltsfield has released Seppeltsfield 175, a beautifully illustrated history book written by respected wine historian and Master of Wine Andrew Caillard MW.
The new book offers a fascinating exploration of Seppeltsfield's journey, tracing the estate's origins as an unsuccessful tobacco-growing venture through to its rise as one of Australia's most significant wine estates.
Featuring 60,000 words, extensive historical research and striking photography, the book brings together previously unpublished archival material, family stories and contemporary imagery to celebrate the people and vision behind Seppeltsfield.
Drawing on collections from the State Library of South Australia, the National Library of Australia and the Seppelt family's private archives, the publication provides a detailed account of the estate's evolution and its enduring connection to the Barossa Valley.
From the pioneering ambitions of Joseph and Benno Seppelt to the estate's transformation under current proprietor Warren Randall, Seppeltsfield's story reflects the innovation, ambition and resilience that have helped shape Australia's wine industry.
Central to Seppeltsfield's remarkable history is its world-renowned Centennial Cellar, home to the world's longest unbroken collection of single vintage Tawnies, dating back to 1878.
The tradition began with Oscar Benno Seppelt's extraordinary vision to set aside a barrel of wine to mature for 100 years. That commitment has continued across generations, with Seppeltsfield releasing a new 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny annually.
In 2026, the estate celebrated the release of its 1926 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny, the 49th consecutive release in this extraordinary collection.
The new commemorative book explores this unique legacy in depth, featuring a comprehensive review of the Centennial Collection, alongside tastings of wines from different decades that reveal the remarkable evolution of Tawny over time. The reviews were undertaken by a panel of six Australian and international wine experts, who also assessed Seppeltsfield's contemporary luxury still wines.
For visitors to the Barossa, Seppeltsfield offers the rare opportunity to step inside this living history.
Through its exclusive A Taste of History and Centennial Cellar Experience, guests can explore the estate's historic cellars and enjoy the extraordinary experience of tasting a 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny directly from the barrel.
Beyond its famous wines, the Seppeltsfield estate brings together exceptional food, art, architecture and craftsmanship, including FINO Restaurant and the JamFactory Craft and Design Studios.
As Seppeltsfield celebrates 175 years, it continues to demonstrate how Australia's rich winemaking heritage can be brought to life through memorable experiences that take visitors well beyond the cellar door.
