Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia

Redefining wellness for wine enthusiasts

Discover the ultimate harmony of wellness and indulgence.

Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia has redefined the way wine enthusiasts can rejuvenate, offering a fusion of relaxation, nature, and exquisite wines. Here’s your guide to some of the most invigorating wine-inspired wellness adventures across the country.

1. Ride the Waves, Sip the Wine

If you’re into both surfing and wine, you’re in luck - Australia is one of few places in the world with wine regions by the coast. Known equally for its wine and surfing prowess is Margaret River in Western Australia, which boasts powerful surf breaks and plays host to the annual Margaret River Pro on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour. It’s home to three Ultimate Wineries – Vasse Felix, Voyager Estate and Leeuwin Estate – which offer a range of wine experiences that are a perfect way to spend those low-swell days. South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula is also famed for its surf breaks. Spend the mornings carving up the waves at Gunnamatta or Portsea beaches, then head over to Montalto or Ten Minutes by Tractor for a laid-back lunch and a guided tour. The swell at Point Leo beach is also considered some of the Peninsula’s best, and Ultimate Winery Pt. Leo Estate is right up the road.

TIP: North of Sydney, Newcastle offers excellent surf and is close to the Hunter Valley where you can visit Audrey Wilkinson. Beaches like Port Noarlunga, Moana and Sellicks Beach in the McLaren Vale region near Adelaide are also great for beginner surfers, with d’Arenberg, Gemtree and Hardys Tintara close by.

2. Say Namaste Among the Vines

In the Barossa Valley near Adelaide, Beyond Wellness offers seasonal wellness retreats at Seppeltsfield. Based out of The Lodge at Seppeltsfield, the retreats offer an option of a two-night all-inclusive weekender or a day pass, and feature an array of wellness-inspired activities like guided yoga and pilates sessions, mindful vineyard walks, and nourishing chef-prepared meals. In the Yarra Valley near Melbourne, De Bortoli has recently partnered with local wellness experts Kindred Warrior for yoga sessions among the vines. Plan your visit around one of their scheduled yoga sessions which include a yoga mat and an energy elixir to kickstart your session, followed by a delicious breakfast, coffee, and a cheeky glass of prosecco.

TIP: Get a dose of calm before the busy festive season with De Bortoli’s special ‘Namasleigh’ session on December 21, and leave feeling grounded and ready to embrace the Christmas chaos.

3. Unwind at a winery retreat

In Western Australia’s Swan Valley, Maya Maya at Mandoon Estate offers 32 elegantly appointed rooms looking out over the serene banks of the Swan River and the property’s historic verdelho vines. Meaning ‘camp’ in local Indigenous language, Maya Maya pays homage to the ancestral legacy of the Whadjuk Noongar people. Or, enjoy a restorative two-night escape to the Orange wine region near Sydney with a dine and stay package from  Printhie Wines and local luxury accommodation provider Basalt. Take a long soak in the beautiful freestanding concrete bath in your architecturally designed luxury studio set amongst a beautiful cherry orchard, and indulge in a four-course degustation lunch at Printhie Dining with matching wines. Near Brisbane, Sanctuary by Sirromet offers luxurious tented glamping pavilions nestled amongst the native paperbark and giant scribbly gum trees, allowing guests reconnect with nature.

TIP: While you’re at Mandoon Estate,  taste traditional bush foods and learn about local Indigenous culture from Noongar Elder, Dale Tilbrook with the Bush Tucker Tasting and Talk Experience.

4. Take a walk in a wine region

In the Margaret River region of Western Australia, Vasse Felix has partnered with local experts Cape to Cape Explorer Tours to create the Cape to Vine Day Trip; an exclusive experience featuring spectacular coastal walking on the Cape to Cape Track, a guided tour of the Vasse Felix winery, vineyards and museum, a private wine tasting and a five-course wine matched lunch. A short drive south of Adelaide, Gemtree Wines is a peaceful, biodynamic winery set on a lovingly restored creekline that’s home to more than 50,000 native trees and shrubs. Take a stroll with Gemtree’s Wine and Wander experience, which includes a guided tour of the biodynamic hut and vineyard, a tutored wine tasting and three course lunch, followed by a self-guided walk along the 1km-long Gemtree Eco trail where you can spot koalas, wildflowers, and native birds. Near Pizzini Wines in the King Valley, an abundance of local walk trails offer a refreshing start to a day of wine tasting. Don’t miss the 1km-long Paradise Falls Walk, which leads to a tranquil waterfall with a viewing platform.

TIP: Get up early and do the Paradise Falls Walk at sunrise for the chance to hear (and spot, if you’re lucky!) the local lyrebirds that mimic other bird sounds in this beautiful pocket of the Alpine National Park.

5. Journey from paddock to plate

Fresh food is nourishment for both body and soul, and our Ultimate Wineries are keen advocates for local, seasonal produce. At St Hugo in the Barossa Valley, take a walk with the chef through the onsite kitchen gardens and touch, taste and smell the fresh produce and herbs. Next, be seated at the open kitchen with a full view of the chefs at work, and enjoy a culinary journey paired with St Hugo wines. On the Food and Wine Adventure at Brown Brothers in the King Valley, harvest garden goodies alongside the chefs who’ll then create a custom menu for you based around the produce you foraged yourself. A wine tasting and history tour is also included. At Montalto on the Mornington Peninsula, you can explore one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Australia with the Estate to Plate Experience. Learn how the growers and kitchen work hand in hand to maximise the natural bounty of the estate, before a multi-course wine-matched lunch featuring produce from the garden.

TIP: Elevate Montalto’s Estate to Plate experience by choosing the Icons of Mornington Peninsula: Terroir to Table experience, which includes an exclusive Terroir Masterclass at Ten Minutes by Tractor after lunch at Montalto.
